From Ron’s Desk

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer. This month we are extremely excited to announce the launch of Tu Voto, Tu Voz. Tu Voto, Tu Voz is designed to promote our community’s participation in the political process. We are pleased to be partnering with the League of Women Voters on this initiative, which will consist of airing a variety of public service announcements on our television stations, as well as participating in, and supporting voter registration drives in all of our markets. Our goal is to encourage voter registration, and ultimately to get out the vote at election time. It is important that our community makes its voice heard at the polls. We appreciate your support of this effort and look forward to continuing our service and commitment to our local communities. Remember tu voto es tu voz.

Human Resources News

Has everyone forgotten about the Flexible Spending Account? The Flexible Spending Account is a great benefit ZGS offers through Benefit Advantage that can offset your health insurance costs. It is an excellent way to decrease your tax liability and offset your medical expenses. This benefit allows you to get reimbursed for ANY out of pocket expenses that your health insurance doesn’t cover – even the simplest item as a bottle of Tylenol - with pre-taxed dollars! Depending on your tax rate you could be saving between 15-35% on your out-of-pocket medical expenses. Please give Jennifer Dreistadt a call if you are interested in receiving any additional information regarding this great benefit.

As you may be aware, health care costs continue to escalate at record levels around the country. As a result, we have experienced an increase in the premiums for our health insurance. The good news is that we were successful in holding the premiums for the dental and vision coverage at the same level as last year. Also, the Company continues to pick up a substantial part of the cost in an effort to keep the employee’s expense to a minimum. Even with the slight increase in our premiums ZGS continues to offer a competitive insurance package, plus the Company continues to pay the full cost of life insurance and disability benefits.
